One in five adults prepared to wait one month for NHS treatment

Provider, The Exeter, has found that most UK adults expect shorter waits for non-urgent hospital treatment than those currently experienced through the NHS.

According to its survey of 2,000 UK consumers, 20% said the maximum they would be prepared to wait would be one month, while 58% would be prepared to wait for three months or less. After this, patience was seen to decline as 8% would wait four months and 2.5% would wait five months. Age was found to influence expectations, 21% of over-55s were prepared to wait up to six months, compared to 14% overall and 3.5% of 16-24-year-olds.
