Non-salaried workers worried about having no life cover

Nearly two thirds (64%) of non-salaried workers - including freelancers, self-employed people and those on zero-hours contracts or hourly pay – who did not have life insurance were concerned about not having cover in place, according to Beagle Street.

The concerns included being worried that their family or friends might not be able to pay for their funeral (16%), their family will inherit financial burdens such as loans and mortgages (14%) and their family will not have the same quality of life if they passed away (14%). Beagle Street surveyed 2,000 people aged between 18-50 about their working patterns and attitudes towards insurance. The provider said the findings suggested that those with variable incomes were less likely to have the protection they may need.
