CII to develop guidance on working with victims of economic abuse

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has agreed to develop guidance for professionals working with victims of economic abuse, based on recommendations from the Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) charity.

Earlier this month (8 November), the SEA published a briefing that called on the life insurance industry to adopt new practices that would prevent the use of the product as a form of economic abuse. The Life insurance and economic abuse briefing outlined several recommendations on how industry participants can help to stop products being used within coercive and controlling behaviours both "during a relationship, and long after separation."
