London records largest protection gap in the UK

London was found to have the "most alarming" protection gap in the UK when considering sick pay and income protection, redundancy pay, critical illness cover (CIC) and life insurance, according to Hargreaves Lansdown (HL).

The HL Savings & Resilience Barometer in July measured how people in each area of the UK fared for each of these types of cover, and Londoners come out at the bottom when it came to redundancy pay (48.2%), and sick pay and income protection (72.2%). By comparison, those in the North East were more resilient when it came to redundancy pay (59.7%) and the South East were more resilient when it came to sick pay and income protection (72.2%).
