Intermediary accidently re-dialled client and made inappropriate comments to colleagues about his medical history

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has ordered adviser firm LifeSearch to pay £2,000 compensation to a client who overheard an adviser and his colleagues mocking him and his medical history. According to FOS, ‘Mr O' had just finished a conversation regarding life insurance with the adviser, who then called him back by mistake. During the conversation, he heard the adviser swearing, making offensive comments and ‘joking' that he should commit suicide due to his medical situation.
