DWP revisits work capability assessments with GPs

According to Disability Rights UK, the Government has admitted it is discussing with GPs how to introduce a reporting mechanism for work capability assessments.

the disability right's group's website saiys it is envisioned that GPs could pass details to the Department of Work and pensions cases where the work capability assessment has caused serious harm to their patients.

This follows an incident where a patient tried to kill himself after a work capability assessment was carried out.

In May GPs, at their annual conference in Liverpool, voted in favour of a motion calling for the end of the work capability assessment.
