Group protection specialist Unum has launched an application - ‘The Perkulator' - which enables people to calculate how much their benefits package is worth, based on simple information they provide.
The Perkulator app, hosted on Unum's Facebook page as well as BackUpPlan.com, asks the user to input their salary amount and bonus, and click ‘yes' or ‘no' against a variety of benefits to indicate which they currently get.
Using average amounts for each benefit - along with the option to put in the exact amount, if known - the app then calculates exactly how much their benefits package is worth, over and above salary.
Unum's concept is that employees work out whether there are any important benefits that might be missing from their package, and in turn whether they should start conversations with their employer about those benefits.
