Millions at risk of losing out financially due to child care duties
According to research by MetLife, more than two in five (41%) parents have had to take time off work in the past two years to look after children involved in an accident or unwell - one in four (24%) said this involved an overnight stay, or longer, in hospital. The survey of 1,209 working adults aged over 18 also revealed that 36% had taken unpaid leave and 44% had taken days off as holiday, while more than a fifth (22%) said that it involved increased costs and expenses.
