Over 55's not feeling supported to stay in work: Bupa

Returning to the workforce had a positive impact

Research by provider, Bupa, has found that 27% of adults believed that staying in the workforce beyond retirement age will help them to live longer.

However, according to the research, which surveyed 8,001 consumers as part of the 2025 Bupa Wellbeing Index report, 27% of employees aged over 55 said that they did not feel supported to stay in work. This comes as separate research from Standard Life found that 440,000 people aged over 50 reported to leave key sectors every year. For over 55s to remain in work, Bupa found that the most common factors included: flexible working patterns (41%), time off for health appointments (31%) and periods of serious ill-health (21%), with support for physical health such as through private health...
