Employers to tackle long-term sickness: Aviva

Insurer, Aviva, had released research which indicated employers recognise that they are key to tackling long term sickness absence.

The research showed that 82% of employers surveyed agreed that they play an important role in helping employees return to work after ill-health. Employers also felt their organisation was good at helping people return to work, 74% of those asked agreed with this statement. Employers did however accept that it required more help to get people back into the workplace. Most employers, 45%, wanted more guidance on accessing occupational health, vocational rehabilitation support and wellbeing services to help prevent ill-health.
