Signposting agreement results in 30K protection enquiries for BIBA

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has received 30,227 enquiries from customers seeking help to access life and protection insurance since an industry agreement was introduced in 2020 to signpost customers with medical conditions to specialists.

The enquiries were made to BIBI's online and telephone 'Find Insurance Service' relating to life insurance, critical illness and income protection between January 2020 and the end of August 2023. As per the voluntary agreement, The Agreement on Access to Protection Insurance, insurance providers are required to signpost customers they are unable to help, due to a medical condition or disability, towards a firm that can.
