36% of UK households have no savings whatsoever

More than 35 million people in the UK have no form of financial protection in the event of unemployment or economic downturn, with nearly half (45%) being forced to rely on their savings if the main earner was unable to work for six months or more. A study by Aegon into the proliferation of financial protection in the UK has found that nearly three-quarters of people are leaving themselves exposed to serious financial risk in the absence of any form of income protection or critical illness cover (CIC), with one in ten in a positon where they would be completely unable to cope should they...
