A new PMI policy which covers all grades of hospitals with no additional premium has been launched by SecureHealth.

The Options plan is underwritten by Legal & General and can provide full in-patient cover for cancer treatment from only 45p per day.

Cover can be tailored by choosing one of six options, ranging from basic cover to additional benefits such as dental surgery and home nursing. Excesses can also be added to make the policy more affordable to clients on a budget.

The policy also avoids clients being charged an excess twice in one year by making it payable once per excess year, rather than policy year. The plan also covers all grades of private hospitals, without clients paying an additional premium to gain access to top names.

Using the plan, a 20-year-old client, with £100 excess, could get basic cover, including full in-patient cover for £13.64 per month.

A 35-year-old client could cover their spouse and any number of children for outpatient treatment from £70.75 per month. A 65-year-old client living on a pension can protect themselves for in-patient treatment ' bypassing NHS waiting lists ' for £56.77 per month.

Alan Keeble, operations director at SecureHealth, said: 'We have high hopes that this plan will really take off, following the sales figures achieved in just a few days since launch.

Unlike other plans on the market, Options is fully modularised, so what benefits the user is dictated by them and not the underwriter. As clients' circumstances change, they can increase or decrease cover accordingly so they only have to pay for what they need,' he said.
