Last year, members of the protection industry shared with COVER their experiences of working in the sector as members of the LGBTQ+ community. One year on, how much progress have we made?

The consensus in 2023 was that the sector is welcoming and accepting of colleagues who identify with the LGBTQ+ community, with a growing level of awareness of the challenges being faced by members of the community. However, several factors to boost inclusivity in the sector were highlighted. This included improving the limited representation of colleagues in the industry who identify with the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in the advice space, as well as the visibility of allies and the need to implement greater inclusivity within applications.
