Consumers more likely to view comparison sites as 'independent' than advisers

Comparison sites are more likely to be regarded as independent by consumers compared to protection advisers, according to new research.

Less than a fifth (19%) of consumers believe protection advisers are independent and show them all the options from providers, according to the Protection Review survey. This compares to 23% who believe comparison websites show an independent and whole-of-market view of protection products. Jo Miller, director of operations at the Protection Review, said: "These findings suggest that consumers have low expectations in terms of the independence of the advice that they receive when buying protection."
