Insurers should do more to assist families under strain following diagnosis, says nurse service

The nurse services firm RedArc has reported that parents of child cancer patients are not receiving the support needed to help them cope with their child's condition. According to RedArc, parents spend an average of £600 in additional expenses per month when coping with a child's cancer diagnosis, which can range from additional travel costs to having to pay for alternative accommodation. Potential loss of income is also a major concern for many parents, and in extreme cases can drive some into debt. The firm suggests, however, that areas of cover must extend past financial imperative...
