BUPA International has announced a strategic alliance with Old Mutual Healthcare to launch a joint international PMI product called Worldwide CareNet.
The alliance means BUPA International will gain valuable experience from the South African IPMI market from Old Mutual Healthcare, which has been an active player in the country for over 40 years.
Aimed at South African companies and individuals living and working in other parts of the world, the new product is designed to provide full international medical cover for all nationalities. It will also be made available in three different levels of cover, providing hospital treatment and accommodation to an overall maximum of £500,000, £750,000 and £1m.
Bill Ward, director and general manager of BUPA International, said: "We are two companies that have strong reputations for service excellence. By coming together we will be able to leverage our combined expertise and knowledge in the best interest of all our customers."
Worldwide CareNet's key features are to include a 24-hour multi-lingual helpline, family doctor treatment, outpatient consultations, home nursing cover and cash benefit, routine maternity cover and emergency dentistry cover.
Lindsay Walker, business development manager of Old Mutual Healthcare, said: "Companies are sending their workforce all over the world, often to areas where medical facilities are not what they would expect. Old Mutual Healthcare recognises the healthcare needs of the travelling workforce and their families and is delighted to be working with BUPA International to meet these needs."
