CIGNA International has extended its Business Class range of products to include a policy aimed at sole traders and the self-employed.
The Business Class Express range enables those who work on their own to get protection against personal injury and to choose the level of cover from a range of three premium and benefit levels.
Among the benefits on offer are payments of up to £250,000 for loss of sight or hearing and up to £125,000 for accidental death. A weekly cash sum of between £150 and £250 is also available for up to 26 weeks following hospitalisation, or as accident benefit for those off work for more than seven days.
Benefit payments are supported by a dedicated helpline, open 24 hours a day. Claimants are offered help and information, including counselling for bereavement and stress, legal and medical advice, and details of any State benefit entitlements.
The maximum premium for up to £250,000 cover is £174 pa.
Alan Stokes, head of corporate accident and health at CIGNA, said: "Self-employed people, for whom not working means not having an income, cannot afford to wait for someone else to pay and personal accident cover can help reduce the financial risk of being self-employed."
