Bupa Ireland has signed an agreement with Best Doctors that will see the service rolled out to all its 430,000 members, writes Angela Faherty.
The deal provides policyholders with free access to Best Doctors' 50,000 leading medical specialists for serious illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular, neurological and orthopaedic conditions. Under the agreement, Bupa Ireland will provide benefit for a treatment abroad if it is not available within the Irish market.
Announcing the new service, managing director of Bupa Ireland, Martin O'Rourke said: "We are introducing this service because we have seen that it is highly valued by BUPA customers and their doctors in Spain and elsewhere. This innovation will make the best international expertise available when serious illness strikes."
Dominic Howard, director for UK and Ireland and Best Doctors, added: "Our partnership with Bupa Ireland is an excellent fit and we have already had our services requested since the launch was announced."
