The ABI has launched a website on genetics and insurance with details including research into the actuarial implications of genetic testing.
Other details being carried on the ABI website include a section on genetic tests and underwriting for life and health insurance. This includes information on relevant genetic disorders and tests, pre-symptomatic genetic tests and criteria to determine the relevance of genetic test results to insurance.
The research being published on the website on the impact of genetic tests on insurance is being carried out at Heriot Watt University under Dr Angus MacDonald.
The website also includes a section on international developments which summarises the use made of genetic tests around the world.
The are details of over 100 voluntary organisations that aim to support people and families affected by genetic disorders.
The ABI's genetic testing code of practice and information leaflet can also be found on the website, as can the names and addresses of the members of the ABI Genetics Committee. There is also a facility allowing users to provide information about forthcoming conferences on genetics.
The website can be reached at www.geneticsinsuranceforum.org.uk.
