What price a full head of hair? That will be a question many of Britain's balding males will be asking themselves this Christmas when a new drug is launched that claims to reverse hair loss. The drug, Propecia, will not be available on the NHS and comes with a price tag of £23 per month. A fair price, some might say, for a full head of hair, until one considers the physical costs. They may have their lavish locks restored, but Propecia users run the risk of temporary impotence and loss of sex drive.
The idea of creating an anti-balding pill was prompted when users of a similar drug, Proscar, which is used to treat enlarged prostates, reported hair re-growth. Sadly, there will be no enlarging in the nether regions, it seems, for the newly hirsute users of Propecia.
