A new anti-blindness therapy is now available to BUPA's members.
Photodynamic therapy treats people with a condition called age-related macular de-generation (AMD), the most common cause of blindness in the Western world.
AMD causes the retina to wear out, leaving sufferers with only peripheral vision.
Robert Royce, head of policy and development for BUPA, said members can be treated with photodynamic therapy by clinicians registered with the national surveillance programmes.
