Risk and insurance services firm, Marsh, has urged for a change in the way stress is managed in the workplace. It calls on senior managers to lead from the front when it comes to dealing with stress at work. In its recent study, Survey of Risk 2004, it found that while 52% of respondents believed that staff absenteeism and turnover are significant risks to their business, they are not confident in knowing how to deal with the issues. As 50-60% of absenteeism is associated with work-related stress, Marsh has developed an online assessment tool to help companies identify the root of problems and target their stress management efforts in the appropriate areas.
