Shareholders will vote over change in CGNU's name

CGNU is seeking approval from its shareholders to change the name of the group to Aviva. The new name will make it easier for the group to enter new markets as the name Aviva is already established in other markets.

Richard Harvey, group chief executive, said: 'The benefits of this change will be significant. We will be able to make more of our corporate brand so positive group news will benefit our trading businesses. We will also be able to make more effective use of our marketing, particularly in advertising and sponsorship.'
