Exeter Friendly Society (FS) is enhancing its private medical insurance (PMI) plans for the growing number of people leaving the UK to live in France.
A product will be designed to meet the needs of people not covered by company PMI while they register as French residents ' involving differing levels of insurance.
Neil Armitage, group marketing director of Exeter Friendly Society, explained: 'To get a residency permit in France you must prove you are not a burden on the state and are required to have 100% private medical insurance. As soon as you have one you are legally only allowed 30% private medical insurance, as the French NHS covers the rest. The new product will change with needs and still offers Exeter FS benefits and service.'
The society does not have a launch date as it is dealing with the French regulator and banks.
'Through our experience with bureaucracy we empathise with members going through a similar process,' added Armitage.
