The Treasury has announced that consumer complaints in relation to firms covered by the Mortgage Code Compliance Board (MCCB) and General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) will be transitioned to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). Complaints about products bought from these firms are currently dealt with by the MCCB and GISC. However once regulation comes into effect, the FOS will deal with complaints. The arrangements are aimed at ensuring there is a seamless transition to regulation, with no gap in consumer protection in the interim.
