Young adults unsure how to purchase protection

One in 10 young adults have not considered, or would be worried about, applying for protection, as they were unsure of how to purchase cover or who to approach for advice, research by LifeSearch has found.

The intermediary surveyed 1,000 UK adults, finding that this sentiment was particularly felt among adults aged 16-24 (22%), while 5% of adults aged over 55 felt the same. LifeSearch noted that protection provides comfort to policyholders, particularly for young adults with worries around work-life balance, education or bills. Its research found that young people were proactively looking after mental health, with 22% using or having used mental health support apps such as Headspace, UnMind or Wellmind within the past 12 months.
