Bright Grey has confirmed it will be increasing reviewable rates on its critical illness (CI) cover for new members across its product range, with effect from May 3. Although there has been an upward trend over the last 12 to 18 months on reviewable CI rates, Bright Grey has not increased its rates for nine months. At the time of going to press, no exact figures were available regarding the increases, however the insurer said that for a smoker, aged 30, with a sum assured of £100,000 over 25 years, the rate increase would move Bright Grey's ranking from second to fifth place in rate comparison tables.
