Permanent Insurance is to help IFAs promote their services online through the use of a plug-in quotation facility, writes Rachel Williams.
Using the E-Serv IFA service, brokers will be able to offer potential customers online quotes and applications through their websites for both critical illness and income protection contracts.
The move follows Permanent's recent launch of plug-in term assurance quotes.
Rod Macdonald, sales and marketing manager at Permanent, said: "Many IFAs now have websites, but few have much functionality. In their protection section it is important for them to have a quotation system to help clients get an idea of cost.
"Using this system they simply get our quote screen up within their own site."
Although online sales are yet to take-off, Macdonald says there is a place for critical illness and income protection on the internet.
"CI is a price-driven product and consumer research has shown there is now as much interest in it as life cover.
"IP, on the other hand, has suffered from under-exposure and the internet is one way people can find out more about it."
The life office will also offer guaranteed rates on income protection from this month.
