The British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) has launched a focus group for private medical insurance (PMI) brokers.
The group was set up at the end of November by BIBA in conjunction with a number of prominent PMI advisers with the aim to "fill a hole in the market".
Susie Colley, managing director at West Country Health Care and one of the advisers involved in the launch, said she hoped the group would provide support for advisers instead of the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries, which she said had become a "talking shop for providers".
"The group will fill the gap as it will discuss the way forward for the industry as well as force providers to wake up and smell the coffee," she said.
The focus group, which will meet four times a year, is currently waiting to appoint a chair.
