International private medical insurer, Expacare, has announced a number of changes to its current range of products, which include doubling the amount of maternity benefits available to policyholders.
Routine maternity benefits have been increased to £4,000, with complications of pregnancy covered at £10,000. Other changes include raising the parental accommodation age to 18 and ' unusual for an international policy ' inclusion of a hospice benefit of six weeks. Psychiatric consultation and seven occupational therapy sessions have also been added to the range and the choice of excess options has changed to both £500 and £1,000.
The provider, which is part of the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group, has also revamped its HealthAssist website for expat policyholders. Several new features have been introduced, including a personal health manager, alerting policyholders to medical alerts, such as vaccine reminders.
'HealthAssist offers members the opportunity to find out useful medical and practical information about the countries to which they will be moving, such as what vaccinations they need and cultural tips,' said Donna Elliot, managing director at Expacare.
