Genetic tests not mandatory in 1998

In January 1998, the Association of British Insurers ruled that insurers were not allowed to insist on a genetic test as a condition of offering insurance. At the same time, long term care insurers also welcomed the establishment of a Royal Commission to investigate the future funding of elderly care even though there were concerns that the elderly needed help at that time.
