The Personal Finance Society (PFS) and IFACare are in talks about forming a faculty of retirement care. If created, the faculty will promote examinations, assessments and learning solutions to encourage people working in the field of retirement care to reach the highest professional standards possible. The faculty would be governed by an advisory board, with a chairman appointed by the PFS board.
"The PFS has determined that the creation of separate faculties acknowledging differing skills and needs would enhance the service provided to members," commented Brian Steeples, president of the PFS. "Bearing in mind the increasing relevance of the retirement care market, and the need for appropraite standards in an area which is characterised by vulnerable clients, PFS and IFACare believe that their resources should be pooled to make sure that the best possible service is given to the public."
