A new employment service available to insurers aims to help cut the duration of mortgage payment protection claims by helping individuals who have been made redundant return to work.
Job Search Direct offers a personal guidance and assistance package that is designed to provide practical and relevant help to speed up the job-seeking process.
According to Job Search Direct, the average claim on MPPI policies is 19 weeks and the group believes it can reduce this to 12 weeks.
Robert Best, managing director of Job Search Direct, said: "This is a particularly cost-effective way of helping people back to work as we have reduced the program to items we believe are valuable. These include help with job search techniques, interview techniques and general job search practice."
He added: "A lot of programs include extensive counselling - we can offer this but not as a part of the basic service."
The scheme is now accessible to insurers looking to help claimants back to work.
This is beneficial to claimants who will not receive payments indefinitely, but also to insurers. "Use of this service should mean insurers have reduced mortgage protection payments as claimants are returning to work earlier," said Best.
Insurers using the service will have access to a report detailing the claimant's job searching activities to ensure the scheme is being taken seriously.
