BCWA Healthcare has announced its results for the year 2003. It has revealed a surplus of £2.8m for 2003 compared with £1m in the previous year. Earned premiums for the year increased to £64.4m and £57.6m in benefits were paid out to the association's members. As BCWA is a not-for-profit organisation, any surpluses are used to improve benefits and levels of service for members. Keith Lansdown, chairman at BCWA Healthcare, said: "I am please that the Association was able to achieve a higher surplus of £2.8m compared to £1m in the previous year. The successful outcome was attributable to a much stronger investment performance than in 2002. BCWA is undoubtedly in a very sound financial condition."
