WPA has launched a private medical insurance plan aimed specifically at people working in professional occupations. Professional Health is based on the insurer's shared responsibility product model, meaning policyholders pay part of the cost of treatment to help significantly lower premiums. 17 professions are currently eligible for the new cover, including accountants, doctors, dentists and solicitors. Cover may also be extended to the policyholder's family. Separate to the product launch, WPA has clarified its position on plans to transfer all existing policyholders to its shared responsibility schemes. As reported in the October issue of COVER, WPA said it planned to transfer all policyholders to shared responsibility. However, since this report the insurer has made it clear it will not be forcing anyone to change plans.
