Private provision lacks MPs' support

In April 1998, a report by Harris Research Centre and Market Access revealed that in spite of increasing pressure on the NHS, 51% of MPs would not promote private healthcare. In other news, a package of measures to help the disabled and long-term sick return to work was announced in the 1998 Budget. Changes to benefits were intended to help disabled people find and keep jobs easier.
