The Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA) and IFA Promotion (IFAP) are joining forces to launch a new company, Advice First. The new company, which will be governed by both AIFA and IFAP, has been established to promote the importance of independent financial advice.
The board will include representatives from Norwich Union, Scottish Widows, DBS and a range of IFA firms. It will be chaired by Roy Nicolson, previously chief executive at Scottish Amicable.
Commenting on the launch, Lord Hunt of Wirral, chairman of AIFA, said: 'It is right that IFAs have greater say and greater responsibility for promoting the value of independent advice in partnership with the providers who use this distribution channel. This new arrangement has the advantage of being quick to implement. There has never been a more important time to promote the advantages of independent advice.'
