Portal to expand its product range
Protection portal MediQuote is to add group life, group income protection and group critical illness products to its comparative quotation system for intermediaries.
The portal currently provides quotes for private medical insurance (PMI) and cash plans.
The new system will be the first of its type in the market and will support both quotes and placement of business.
It is initially being developed with Swiss Life and the support of other providers is due to be announced in the near future.
Mark Kimberling, business development director of Medi-Quote, said: 'We aim to pilot the scheme in March and have recently started work on the project. We have been talking to a few other companies about involvement in the scheme and are negotiating the financial elements. There is no set start date, but I would imagine it to be around the beginning of the second quarter this year.'
In a separate development, MediQuote has announced BCWA's group PMI products will be available on its system.
Howard Hughes, sales and marketing manager of BCWA, commented: 'We anticipate the use of technology in our sector to gather information is set to grow.'
