BCWA is offering an exclusive private medical insurance product to the residents and business community of Jersey, writes Robyn Hall.
Private Health Cover is based on BCWA Healthcare's Preferential plan and is being launched at a presentation to over 100 businesses in St Helier.
Philip Fowles, BCWA's sales and marketing director, said: "We have created a unique plan for the island that provides comprehensive PMI cover, GP fees and dental and optical benefits in a complete package designed exclusively for companies and residents of Jersey. This combination is a first for the island."
Preferential Cover for Jersey includes GP fees and variable optical and dental cover. GP fees are up to £200 per person per annum while dental charges cover up to a maximum of £160 a year, including dental check-ups and treatment. Optical cover is up to a maximum of £140 a year and covers sight tests.
Fowles said: "Sight tests are a pre-requisite for all staff operating in front of computer screens and the plan also offers cash grants towards the cost of glasses, bifocals or contact lenses."
BCWA created the product in association with Channel Islands-based Rossborough Healthcare International, through which the plan is available.
Fowles added: "This is a truly bespoke product. Benefits available include the choice of up to four scales of cover; inpatient and day patient hospital charges; surgeons' and anaesthetists' fees; private ambulance; home nursing; out-patient services such as physiotherapy, radiology, pathology and consultations with a specialist."
The Jersey product sees BCWA strengthening its presence in the Channel Islands. Last year the islanders of Sark - where there is no National Health Service - switched their private medical insurance cover to BCWA.
