Technology provider Sapiens is planning to develop a product that will help health insurers and brokers to communicate and share information more effectively.
Sapiens said its eMerge technology will help protection providers to develop computer-based systems for communication and information exchange between insurers, underwriters, intermediaries and customers.
Sapiens plans to introduce its eMerge technology framework next year.
David Leach, solutions manager at Sapiens, said: "eMerge is Sapiens' strategic technology for supporting and opening up multi-channels for information exchange.
"Insurers will have the ability to adapt their existing systems to send and receive information through multi-channels to business partners, suppliers and customers.
The company used the example of a general insurance provider, which has the potential to use several points of contact with its intermediaries and with customers through the internet, call centres, kiosks and by post.
However, Sapiens said such a wide range of contact points can often cause confusion, especially when customers decide to change between either format.
Sapiens' eMerge technology provides a framework that will allow access through a variety of methods to track customers at any given point of time, either direct to the web, through integration with call centre technology, industry standard electronic data systems or through conventional sales and administration staff.
Leach added: "The underlying technology allows ease of integration with existing customer databases. Where there is no suitable database, the eMerge framework comes with one provided. The technology also facilitates integration with existing systems, protecting investment in existing information.
The technology will also allow providers to create new products and services designed for a specific distribution channel, test their suitability for a particular channel, recreate existing products and services for offering through new channels and generate product and service variations to respond to market changes.
