Prudential has decided to pull the plug on its old range of protection products and instead roll out its new protection offering to the whole of the market.
The product will be available to all advisers in the market from 1 February and Prudential will be running a series of roadshows across the UK, starting from February, informing IFAs about the product.
Paul Cowman, head of proposition and market strategy for insurance at Prudential, said: "We think the new product will change the landscape of the sector and for the next few months we will be offering training to IFAs on the product so they feel confident when advising on it."
Cowman confirmed that existing policyholders will remain unaffected by the changes. "Existing clients can stay where they are or if they want to come across to the new product we advise them to speak to their IFA," he said. "We believe we should make some payment on conditions where a person's lifestyle is affected; not just when the condition is so critical that it has such a dramatic impact on their lifestyle," he added.
