Many intermediaries feel they are not receiving the support and service they require to promote health insurance policies, according to HealthSure.
The cash plan provider commissioned research that indicated a large number of brokers had been asked about health insurance products by clients, yet only 30% had sold a healthcare cash plan in the last two years.
Raman Sankaran, marketing communications manager at HealthSure, said: 'Presently, one of the fastest-growing employee benefits, healthcare cash plans, is proving to be an untapped market for many intermediaries who are not taking advantage of its potential.
'In addition to offering excellent initial and ongoing commission, it is often an easier sale than other types of policies and can act as a door-opener or a good cross-sell opportunity due to its low cost.'
When asked why he thought products were undersold, Shaun Newcomb, proprietor of specialist healthcare intermediary Healthguard, said: 'There is possibly a lack of information on products. Also many intermediaries feel that there is not enough comparative data and that they will have to plough through lots of brochures.'
