The Financial Services Authority (FSA) held its initial meeting with long term care (LTC) providers and advisers on 15 May to discuss the future role of examinations for the sale of LTC insurance.

Among the issues discussed were the role of the State in funding LTC, the provision and range of LTC insurance and the need for advice when purchasing cover. A follow-up meeting is planned for 3 June and the FSA hopes to release a consultation paper by early autumn 2003 ' a year before the implementation of its regulatory regime.
