Pioneer and Exeter will be launching a new holistic healthcare product shortly after their merger has been completed.
The two firms will complete the deal on 31 March and will reveal a new product in Q2 this year.
Andy Chapman, chief executive of Pioneer Friendly, said the product will be launched "fairly soon" after the completion date of the merger. However, he admitted that the firms had not yet decided what the product is going to look like. "We are considering launching something that would provide cover if anything at all goes wrong with the body, but would like to talk to customers about product design first," he said.
Chapman added that the aim of putting the two firms together was to create a "true healthcare provider".
"Customers need to be confident that, should they fall ill or have an accident, they have the appropriate security and financial protection in place. With a growing demand in our respective areas, we have ambitious plans to become a leading provider of quality healthcare products backed by first-class service levels.
"The advantage of joining forces is that both firms know each other well. The opportunity this deal creates for us to develop exciting and innovative new products not being offered by other insurers should not be underestimated," he said.
The firms will continue to operate under the two separate brands until a new name has been agreed.
