Skandia has become the latest provider to reveal its declined critical illness (CI) claims statistics.
The move comes three months after Standard Life became the first insurer to unveil how many CI claims it had turned down over the past year.
The latest figures released by Skandia showed that it refused to pay out 21% of its 1,675 CI claims over the past twelve months.
Some 11% of the claims were turned down because the policy definitions were not met, while 8% were voluntarily withdrawn by clients.
Only 2% were, however, declined due to non-disclosure.
