Swiss Life (UK) has purchased specialist occupational healthcare company MTL Medical Services from the European transport service organisation Arriva.

The provider of group and individual protection insurance products, Swiss Life claims that the acquisition of the company will fit well with its current disablility insurance offerings.

Steve Burnett, managing director of Swiss Life, said: "This move into the occupational healthcare arena underlines our view that this sector is set for strong growth in the near future. We were looking to acquire a company that had both an established reputation and the ability to complement our existing business."

MTL is a specialist occupational health provider which provides services such as sickness absence assessments, health surveillance programmes and advice on work related health issues.
