Norwich Union has launched a new underwriting academy, confirming a trend for such investments.
In July, rival provider, Legal & General also launched an underwriting academy.
The fundamental difference between the two academies is the target audience. Norwich Union's academy is designed to enhance employee skills and improve service levels for advisers and customers. The scheme is aimed at underwriting staff of all levels and is designed to improve technical knowledge across the business area. Legal & General's academy was specifically designed for senior underwriters and claims handlers.
Norwich Union's academy is an online modular course for all ability levels and sections on different areas of underwriting. Each section is tested to ensure participants' understanding.
This has been built on the success of two other academies dealing with service and claims that Norwich Union established earlier this year.
