Technology 'will be transformative' in the protection industry

Insurers called to adopt technology

Insurers have been urged to look at what technology they can take onboard in the protection industry by Gen Re's head of sales, Alastair Gerrard.

Speaking today (6 December) at the Protection Review 2023 Conference, Gerrard warned that the industry "will see challenges around technology". "We are going to see challenges to the model we currently have around protection," he told delegates. Gerrard said artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to impact the protection industry by allowing the opportunity to engage with a wider audience and be fairer and more inclusive. "In terms of advice, AI is going to be hugely transformative. It will not replace advisers, but people will access it more due to lower costs," Gerrard noted. ...
