US provider makes policy with digital health and wellness benefits for employees working abroad available to firms across The Atlantic
US healthcare firm UnitedHealthcare Global has unveiled international private medical insurance (IPMI) product ‘BeHealthy' to the UK and 31 markets in the European Economic Area (EEA).
The plan, which focuses on wellbeing, helps employees working abroad identify and manage their health risks, with a focus on mental, emotional and physical health.
‘BeHealthy' includes access to UnitedHealthcare's worldwide medical network of more than 1.3 million care providers and nearly 21,000 hospitals; comprehensive health and wellness benefits including employee assistance programmes (EAPs), a wellness coaching resource and preventative health screenings, and in-house risk and assistance benefits via 22,000 third-party operations in 115 countries.
The plan also includes ‘My Wellbeing', a personalised digital solution designed to cultivate healthy habits among participants. It combines clinical programmes and engagement techniques with mobile technology, social networking and gamification. The service currently has 67,000 members worldwide - of those, 29% lost weight, 11% reduced their blood pressure and 42% reduced their risk of diabetes.
‘BeHealthy' also includes UnitedHealthcare Global's travel security manager, an online tracking tool that helps locate and communicate with employees around the world, while ‘World Watch' is an intelligence database that provides information about political risks, security threats and medical care facilities worldwide.
"‘Be Healthy' builds on UnitedHealthcare's extensive portfolio of international health insurance plans that have been available to US-based multinational companies for years," said David Powell, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Global Solutions. "Our products provide high-quality, cost-effective benefits and services to customers wherever they are in the world."
"Our comprehensive health and wellbeing plans do more than just help people manage illness; they focus on proactive, preventive health care to help employees live healthier lives," added Claude Daboul, managing director of UnitedHealthcare Global Solutions Europe.
